Photoraphy & Painting Holidays

Location - Lake Bolsena

Bolsena is a magical village, perched high above and overlooking the lake, set in the beautiful Italian landscape it is just an eight minute walk from the hotel which is 50 metres from the lake side with its attractive bars and restaurants.

Bolsena lies in a strategic position at the crossroads with Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio, 15 minutes drive south of Orvieto the famous area for Frascati wine.

Bolsena lake is the largest volcanic lake in Europe having a circumference of 42 kilometres. Two islands, Martana and Bisentina, emerge from its waters and these serve to provide an interesting trip for you to get a view back to Bolsena village. Bisetina is the island that most people are attracted to, quite apart from its 7 oratories and convent set in beautiful gardens, it has been the summer residence of choice for many Popes. Boat rips can be arranged for groups should that be the wish of the group.

A photography holiday set in this area  has a great deal to offer the photographer, and many enjoyable hours can be spent exploring the village, lake and nearby hilltop villages to capture that special shot. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a special photography course in Italy - and on your free day, you may take the opportunity to enjoy, among other things, water-sports, horse riding, mountain-biking, hiking in the Monte Rufeno National Park or just lazing around the pool.

Although the course is set in and around Bolsena we do take advantage of the wider area and visits to places of interest and other photogenic areas are included in the itinerary.

Your ‘free day’ - some of our guests choose to take the train (75 - 90 minutes to the centre) and visit Rome on their free day - others go to Florence - naturally, we drop you off at Orvieto station and picked you up at the end of the day - no trouble!
