‘Spring 2009′ - Chateaux & Cathar Castles - Dates:  May 2009 In spring-time this amazing diverse area of stunning landscapes, rivers, lakes and mountains can surprise as well as delight visitors - especially photographers. Everything is in bloom and the mountain ranges and gorges offer up a host of wild flowers and babbling streams. Quite apart from the castles and chateaux, visiting photographers can be sure of a wealth of subjects to develop their skills and make the most of this photography course. The local market of Villefranche-de-Lauragais, where the farmers and artisans meet in the sunshine of early spring, is the ideal place to experience a way of life that has not changed in hundreds of years. Their freshly harvested spring produce on colourful display and the rustic nature of their stalls and the ambiance will present you with a host of shooting opportunities. ‘Summer 2009′ - ‘Man in His Landscape’ - Dates: June 2009  As with the autumn and spring courses, there is so much to photograph on this holiday. Naturally, the sun is a major factor - from ‘early summer’ sun dawns across the ‘U’ shaped lake Ganguise to balmy evening sun-sets, bathing the glorious landscape in a glow of gold, orange and red hues - what great days for the photographer! In local hillside villages you can find wonderful shades of light and dark playing tricks with medieval architecture. You might catch local villagers sitting on benches nodding off in the afternoon sun. Explore the forest glades surrounding the lakes and catch the dappled sun-light filtering through the leafy trees. There will be a host of lake-side sailing and water-sports activities. ‘Autumn 2009′ - Autumnal Shadows & Colours - Dates:  October 2009  The sun sets earlier and as autumnal changes alter the landscape and shadows lengthen, imagery takes on a light and dark aspect that can only be captured at this time of year. In the cobbled streets and around the delightful squares of hillside villages you can make the most of their shadows and colours way into the last vestiges of sunset and beyond, when attractive restaurants, still serving outside, light up the tables for the evenings diners. Course duration Each ‘Photography Course’ runs Saturday to Saturday - 8 days (7 nights) with 6 days of lessons and one free day. We are flexible in our approach and believe it is important to cater for everyone’s needs. That is why we limit groups to a maximum of ten - this ensures a happy holiday group and allows for the right amount of personal attention from the course tutor. Although the course is limited to ten people, we are happy to welcome non-participating friends, family or partners to La Guiraude. Non-participants will not take part in the daily programme of those attending the course - they will however, join the group for the evening meal should they wish.
