Your resident artists are Virginia Griffith-Jones and Stephen Rose
Virginia Griffith-Jones is an artist and is also a teacher of art. Throughout the last 10 years she has had numerous exhibitions and her work has been shown in galleries in London and around the country. Virginia believes that this painting holiday offers a different emphasis on painting.
There are plenty of opportunities in your stay at this beautiful place,Bolsena, for you to immerse yourself in your own personal creativity and allow you time to explore and develop your skills. Virginia believes that you ‘learn by doing’ and feels that in order to progress you need to be challenged. She will help and remind you of the ‘basic techniques’ but at the same time encourage you to develop your own personal art in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Her work is a continuous development of her ability to capture and reproduce a theme in a dynamic mix of spontaneity and control. Her style has developed over the years from traditional roots, where she has concentrated on still life and landscapes in both oil and water colour, to the point where her more contemporary work involves a multi-media reinterpretation of classical themes. In much of her work she has set out to combine the traditional and the abstract and has created a series of impressions through expressive experimentation.
